FAQ

Common questions about CMS for Harmony — widgets, Dynamic Pages, external databases, payments, forms, and plans.

Which widgets does CMS for Harmony include?

Table, Repeater, Slideshow, Media Gallery, Calendar, Dynamic Page, and Form. “Cards” means a Repeater layout.

How do I add a widget to the page?

Add → Elements → Installed Apps → CMS for Harmony, then drag a widget onto the page. You can add the same widget more than once. Full guide: Add widgets.

Does it bind CMS data to native Text, Image, or Button?

No. CMS for Harmony ships app widgets only. It does not connect the native Harmony Text, Image, Button, or other built-in elements to CMS fields.

Can I add field types that Harmony’s native picker doesn’t offer?

Yes. On the collections dashboard, Add field can create types missing from Harmony’s native Choose Field Type list — including Media Gallery, Video, Audio, Document, Address, Color, Tags, Reference, Multi-reference, Rich content, Language, Object, and Array. See Advanced fields.

Does it work on Wix Classic and Wix Studio?

Yes. CMS for Harmony works on Wix Classic (Editor), Wix Studio, and Harmony. Install from the App Market on your site and add the widgets in that editor.

For how the app differs from Harmony’s built-in CMS (native Repeaters, item pages, and current limits), see Native Harmony CMS vs CMS for Harmony.

How do item pages work?

Recommended: In the collection, choose More actions → Add collection page, add the Dynamic Page widget, and set Page path and Item slug. Alternative: If native pages fail, use CMS Collections → Make dynamic and the app /item Site Page (fixed path; item slugs not auto-listed in the sitemap). Full walkthrough: How to set up Dynamic Pages.

Can visitors search and filter?

Yes on Table, Repeater, Calendar, Media Gallery, and Slideshow — with match conditions, ranges, Reference fields, Color swatches, optional fixed Choose value filters, and Filters display (top or side).

Can displays reload when collection data changes?

Yes. In Data refresh on Table, Repeater, Slideshow, Media Gallery, Calendar, and Dynamic Page, turn on Show refresh button and/or Auto-refresh (pauses when the tab is hidden). On the Form, turn on Update displays on this page so a successful submit reloads same-collection displays on that page.

Can I set up a widget with AI?

Yes. Open the widget settings and choose AI setup. Describe what you want in plain language — binding, fields, layout, filters, design, and more. When the assistant suggests a new collection or missing fields, you can create or add them with one click from the suggested schema. Switch to Manual anytime. Uses this site’s Wix AI credits. See AI setup.

Can I use Google Sheets, Airtable, or Notion instead of a Wix collection?

Yes. Connect a source under External databases in the dashboard (Google Sheets, Airtable, or Notion), then set a widget’s Data source to External Database. Free and Supporter include one connection; Pro unlocks unlimited. Supported on Table, Repeater, Slideshow, Media Gallery, and Calendar. Form and Dynamic Page stay on Wix CMS. See External databases.

Can I show CMS content only to members or plan holders?

Yes on Pro. On Table, Repeater, or Dynamic Page, open Settings → Access: choose Entire widget or Individual items, set Who can view (members or selected pricing plans), and customize the blocked message and optional sign-in button. This controls what visitors see on the live site — not CMS dashboard permissions. See Content access.

Can I sell collection items?

Yes on the Pro plan. Use Enable payments on a collection (Name + Price mapping), then turn on Add to cart / Buy now on Repeater, Table, Dynamic Page, Media Gallery, or Slideshow. Checkout uses Wix cart and checkout. See Catalog payments. Catalog payments apply to Wix CMS collections, not external database connections.

Can forms collect payment?

Yes on Pro. In the Form panel, turn on Enable payments: the submission is saved, Wix Checkout opens, then order id, total paid, and payment status can be written back to the submission. Use a fixed amount or let the visitor enter an amount. See Form widget. This is separate from catalog Add to cart / Buy now.

Can forms be multi-step or conditional?

Yes. In the Form panel, turn on Multi-step form under Steps, assign fields to steps in Field setup, and use Preview step in the editor. Under each field, Show only when can hide a field until another field is empty, not empty, or equals any of selected values. Text fields also support Radio buttons and Checkbox (multi-select) input types. See Form widget.

Can forms autosave while someone is filling them in?

Yes. Under Submit, turn on Autosave and choose a boolean Submitted field (or add one). Logged-in members save a draft in the collection and resume it later. Other visitors keep a draft in this browser until they submit. Autosave and Editable form cannot both be on. See Form widget.

Where do form submissions go?

Into the collection you connect to the Form widget, including Color, Date / Date & time / Time, Number, URL, Video upload, and image / Media Gallery uploads when configured. With Form payments enabled, optional Order ID / Total paid / Payment status fields are updated after checkout.

Can a form create a Wix contact or site member?

Yes. In the Form panel, turn on Create contact to upsert a Wix contact from mapped fields (email required). Turn on Create member to register a site member with login email and password — passwords stay off the collection. You can add form-only (contact) / (member) fields that are not saved to CMS. See Form widget.

Do forms work with Wix Automations?

Yes. Each successful submission fires a CMS for Harmony Form submitted trigger. The payload includes submission id, collection, field values (JSON), and contact identity when Contacts is mapped. See Form widget.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. The free Basic plan may show a small “powered by CMS for Harmony” watermark on published widgets. The Supporter plan removes watermarks. Free and Supporter include one external database connection (Google Sheets, Airtable, or Notion). The Pro plan unlocks unlimited External databases, catalog payments, and Form pay-on-submit (cart and checkout).
